The Rise Of The Chavs.

There seems to be more than one definition of the word Chav, but for the purposes of this I will use the following. A Chav is a person who is loud, bolshy, throws litter out of his/her car window, doesn't pick up after his/her dog, claims benefits while working, pushes in front of a queue and someone you don't want to live next door to.

Now we all know about Chavs, we all know who they are but we don't know why they are Chavs. I believe that it is deliberately inadequate education. I come to this conclusion after a great deal of thought and delving into my own history.

I was born in 1942. My first school was Stapleford Abbots Primary/Junior school. The headmistress was Miis Anita Youa who was a stuck up old bag with a bun on her hear that was so tight I swear she could not blink. Miss Youa used to say that "children from the wrong sort of families are not to be encouraged" as she strutted up and down the classroom with her ruler under her arm, ready to strike at the least little thing. She never seemed to strike out at the first five or six rows, only the very back row where the nine of us who came from the wrong sort of families were stuck. She mostly ignored the back row, except for the odd scowl. My father and his two brothers went to the same school and from what they said Miss.Youa had not changed a bit. Neither had her attitude. My Dad often described her as looking like a startled ostrich. Probably that bun keeping her eyes open.

Bear with me, there is a point to this lengthy preamble.

From what I can gather from talking to others of a similar age, this sort of behaviour from teachers was not uncommon at the time. It was a very similar situation when we went to "big school", the only exception being that if your parents could afford a uniform you were okay but if not you were, once again, treated as if you weren't there. This resulted in those of us from what was considered the wrong sort of families leaving school at 15 with what can best be described as bad attitudes. Conscription had ended so that bit of salvation was gone, jobs for our sort were not readily available so attitudes hardened. I joined the Royal Marines when I was 17 and the basic training in those days included 2 hours a day schooling where nobody was ignored and treated differently.

Now we come to where I believe todays Chavs come from.

Those who left school with bad attitudes who weren't saved by going into the forces, eventually got jobs, got married, had kids who were classed as coming from the wrong sort of families. These kids left school and because their parents had bad attitudes to authority and work etc;  they had even worse attitudes. And so the cycle continues until we reach the present. It is wrong to generalise and there were many who escaped the cycle but a significant number did not. I like to think I escaped the cycle but there may be some who went to Eton or similar schools who think I am a Chav. But that sort think that everyone who didn't go to Eton or similar is a Chav.

I lived on a council estate in Chipping Ongar for much of the 50's and 60's. When I lived there very few house had gardens full of old junk. Most of the Mums and Dads went to work and the Chavs were few and far between. Now they appear to be everywhere. The other thing that defines a Chav is that very few will bother to vote and if they did they would not vote Tory. This is why I believe that the inadequate education still exists. The more Chavs the state turns out the better for the political right wing who are without a doubt more right-wing than they ever have been.

RIP-OFF BRITAIN.

RIP-OFF BRITAIN.

Since the Chinese government bought South West Trains,75% of Britains railways are owned by Chinese,Italian,German,French,Dutch,Belgium,Singapore and Qatari governments. This means that although our government does not want to nationalise our rail network they don't mind if other countries governments do. When polled, 60% of British people want our railways to be run by our government.

These other governments have forced grossly unfair prices on Britain's rail users so that their state owned rail services can subsidise their domestic services. Italian operator C2C charges us 2.4 times the amount it charges in Italy. A 35 mile rail trip monthly season ticket from Maidstone costs passengers £412.50. In Germany, a 36 mile trip from Luckenwalde to Berlin is £99.80. Rail bosses here say it's dearer because our services are quicker and more frequent. Surely not quicker and more frequent enough to warrant a £312.70 difference.

This foreign ownership of out  companies is not only our rail network. 4 out 6 energy firms are French, German and Spanish owned. We are all well aware of the high costs of energy bills here which are much higher than in Europe. We are subsidising foreign state owned energy firms when our own government refuse to do anything to curb this blatant profiteering.

All our major airports are foreign owned and only 3 out of 10 water companies are owned by British firms. The French and Chinese governments are building nuclear power stations here. You can guess what will happen to prices when these are up and running.

These are not the only examples of how the Great British rip off is working. There will be a lot more examples next time, but as usual, typo's are creeping in so time stop.

There are many belief systems  throughout the world and each one has it's own God which is considered to to be the one true God. For what its worth, here is my view.

When the first individuals formed themselves into the first tribes, the most able among them became the natural leader. This leader took it upon themselves to look after the rest of the tribe and make sure they were looked after. A recent archaeological find of a 5000 year old skeleton of a severely disabled man in his 40's showed he had been very well cared for throughout his life despite not being able to care for himself. This is perhaps something that is being forgotten in today's world.

It wasn't long before others in the tribe saw the adulation that the leader received from the tribe and wanted it for themselves. Backstabbing had been invented. Those leaders who had thought only of others were replaced by by the type of person that we call Murdock, Green, Trump and Tory.

This new breed thought only of themselves and what they could extort from others with the least amount of input and effort. Capitalism had been invented.

The new leaders saw how the tribe behaved each morning when the sun came up because they had realised that all life depended on the sun. They managed to convince the tribe that the sun was God and that they and only they could talk to God and so religion was born.

It is very obvious that the way human nature has evolved capitalism is the only way the world can actually work but it is also very obvious that the sort of uncontrolled, unprincipled capitalism we have today will result in the sort of world that is controlled by a few individuals. The sort of world that is depicted in works of fiction such as Resident Evil. Without the zombies of course.

We already have groups of individuals like the Bildeberg Group. This group of extreme right wing bankers and leaders of large corporations already controls much of the world. Many governments are in thrall to these people, each of whom wishes to be the richest person on the planet.

I don't believe that this dark world is imminent but it is coming. I don't have children but there are children in my life that I regard as my own and I am very concerned that the unquenchable thirst for power and wealth exhibited by the likes of Murdock and Trump and those like them will take the world to a very dark place.

Vast wealth is actually a curse. You see this in the likes of Richard Branson. When he was merely a multi millionaire he was quite benevolent. Since becoming a multi billionaire he has taken to suing the NHS if they don't give him the contracts he is demanding in order to privatise it.

I will stop this rant at this point as typo's are beginning to appear and I don't want to upset the grammar police.

Just had a wonderful week in France to celebrate Andrews birthday. We spent the first few days at the house in Verghaes followed by a lovely day at the château pictured below to celebrate Andrews actual birthday. The owners of the château were amazing host's and after giving the fifty of us a guided tour allowed us free run of the house and grounds. They also provided a really fantastic high tea in the true English fashion with salmon and cucumber sandwich's and the biggest range of cake's I have ever seen.
